Years ago, I learned that that Oracle at Delphi in ancient Greece had inscribed on its arch that statement “know thyself.” For better than half of my adult life I have been trying to fulfill this edict.
Many doors have been made aware to me and I have stepped through them into rooms of many different philosophies, doctrines, and strictures. Yet few have been as relevant to me as the Michael Teaching. If for no other reason, Michael’s Teachings’, the ongoing and accumulating information that continues to be produced by dozens of Michael Channels; still offers me more refinements about what makes “me” who “I Am” and therefore clarifies what I need. And through these progressions I have been privy to the formation of many questions that lead to answers about me. Answers that stabilize the underpinnings of my personality in such a way as to create a greater link to my own Essence and thus support the communication between the two. And to my assessment, that end is the only standard ultimately worth reaching…because all else flows from that union.
Michael has spoken about how our knowledge of energy is finite but there is enough of what we know that it can be refined and harnessed. The best way to accomplish this combined task is to know your Life Purpose, your Mission Statement and your 7 Truths. In metallurgy, these processes would be like taking the raw ore of your Personality, smelting it in the heat of self -awareness, tempering it with word elements that add texture, shape, and strength to the unique forge and produce the meddle of your Personality. Those elements reside within the deep mines of your Essence. Oh yes, you can use other metals and composite elements, but they will not render the fully unique expression of you.
So how does knowing ones benefit and why is it crucial to your energy balance? The answer lies in the concept of Vitality. As one moves toward living the behaviors, beliefs and attitudes, the tendency to experience emotional exhilaration, potency and confidence, and physical endurance, expands and is at your command. It is this expansion that correlates to a more efficient use of ones energy and thus a more consistent vitality to attract what one wants from life.
Michael’s “Life Task“ and the Life Purpose Life Tasks tends to be a theme of learning rather than specific performance. It can be played out in a small venue like a family or workplace, or a large one like a community, or country. Life Purpose is a way to engage the Personality’s cooperation and have a verbal reminder to refocus its attention and recalibrate vibration to give maximum energy and enthusiasm in pursing its aspirations. Michael identifies Life Task as the work that an Essence “signs-up” to do in a life time. One can forgo or abdicate Life Task when “false personality” or Ego controls the Personality to the extent that it distracts (usually by excessive Chief feature) the ability of the Essence to pierce the veil of fear. The Life Purpose is an intention of personality. When the two are in sync a person will experience an abundance of vitality. Ostensibly, the combined energies of these qualities are what has been referred to in French as raison d’être.
The Mission Statement is a briefer statement that one wants to achieve as an ongoing goal. Whereas Life Purpose is more of a committed direction of which the mission is merely one of several expressions. These following examples are those of the Channel’s himself. Ex: My Life Task is to nourish myself with love and compassion and to share that feast with humor, play and deep understanding of others. (Old Soul task) Or Ex2: My life task is to complete the cycle of pain and embark on a cycle of creation. Notice these tasks are philosophically based, almost affirmations. Ex: My Life Purpose is demonstrate to people that humor and humility lead us to self-acceptance, which empowers us to have compassion for others. Ex. My Life Purpose is to teach people about self-acceptance through use of my humor and characterizations of life. Ex: "My Mission is to listen to people wherever they are located in a state of compassion." Ex: "My Mission is show courage in expressing my real thoughts and emotions."
Ambition is a motivational force available to personality from the exalted Chief Features (Greed, Arrogance and Impatience) that create drive. To co-opt ambition for making life work it requires knowing clearly what makes you function in an optimal fashion. This is where the declaration of the 7 truths in support of the Life Purpose. To do this, it is important to both define each element and refine the declaration. Lets discuss the 7 truths: True Work, True Rest, True Service, True Play, True Study, True Love, and True Home.
